Venkataramanane baaro (ವೆಂಕಟರಮಣನೆ ಬಾರೋ)

Yet another beautiful verse by Shri Purandara Vittala daasaru which is an invocation to Lord Venkataramana to come and bless His devotees by praising His glory, beauty and divine attributes🙏 I have tried to provide the translation of the Kriti in English and also word by word meaning. Trust this helps.

Meaning of the Kriti

ಪಲ್ಲವಿ

ವೆಂಕಟರಮಣನೆ ಬಾರೋ ಶೇಷಾಚಲವಾಸನೆ ಬಾರೋ  

Venkataramanane baaro Sheshaachalavaasane baaro    

O Venkata Ramana! please do come! One who resides in Sheshachala Please do come!


ಅನುಪಲ್ಲವಿ

ಪಂಕಜನಾಭ ಪರಮ ಪವಿತ್ರ ಶಂಕರ ಮಿತ್ರನೇ ಬಾರೋ    

Pankajanaabha parama pavitra Shankara mitrane baaro

Lotus navelled, Absolutely holy/divine, Please do come O friend of Lord Shankara


ಚರಣ ೧

ಮುದ್ದು ಮುಖದ ಮಗುವೆ ನಿನಗೆ ಮುತ್ತು ಕೊಡುವೆನು ಬಾರೋ

Muddu mukhada maguve ninage mutthu koduvenu baaro

O Lovely faced baby, I offer you my love/kisses Please do come

ನಿರ್ದಯವೇಕೋ ನಿನ್ನೊಳಗೆ ನಾನು ಪೊಂದಿದ್ದೇನು ಬಾರೋ    

Nirdhayaveko ninnoLage naanu pondhiddenu baaro

Why are you so merciless O Lord I am one within YOU, please do come.  


ಚರಣ ೨

ಮಂದರ ಗಿರಿಯನೆತ್ತಿದ ಆನಂದ ಮೂರ್ತಿಯೇ ಬಾರೋ

Mandhara giriyannetthidha aananda moorthiye baaro

One who lifted Mandara Hills, O Lord of Happiness Please do come 

ನಂದನಕಂದ ಗೋವಿಂದ ಮುಕುಂದ ಇಂದಿರೆಯರಸನೆ ಬಾರೋ

Nandhana kandha Govindha Mukundha Indireyarasane baaro

O son of Nanda! O Protector of the cows! Lord of Indira (Lakshmi Devi) Please do come 


ಚರಣ೩

ಕಾಮನಯ್ಯ ಕರುಣಾಳು ಶ್ಯಾಮಳ ವರ್ಣನೆ ಬಾರೋ

Kaamanayya karuNaaLu shyaamaLa varNane baaro

Father of Kama, You are merciful, One who is dark-hued Please do come

ಕೋಮಲಾಂಗ ಶ್ರೀಪುರಂದರ ವಿಠ್ಠಲನೆ  ಸ್ವಾಮಿರಾಯನೆ ಬಾರೋ 

Komalaanga Shri Purandara Vittalane Swamiraayane baaro

One who has a gentle body, Shri Purandara Vittala Our Lord, Our Ruler please do come.


WOR BY WORD MEANING 

Venkataramanane = O Lord Venkataramane

baaro = Please do come (Purandara daasaru has referred to the Lord in singular which shows his intimacy towards the Lord)

Sheshaachalavaasane = One who resides in Seshachalam   


Pankajanaabha = Lotus navelled 

parama = Absolutely

pavitra = holy/pure/divine

Shankara mitrane = A friend of Lord Shankara 


Muddu = Lovely

mukhada = faced

maguve = Baby

ninage = to you

mutthu = kisses/ love

koduvenu =shall shower you with  

Nirdhayaveko =Why are you Merciless?

Govindha Mukundha = Protector/tender of cows

Indireyarasane = The Lord of Indira Devi(Goddess Lakshmi)


Kaamanayya = Father of Kama 

karuNaaLu = Merciful

shyaamaLa = Blue/ dark hued

varNane = coloured 

Father of Kama, You are merciful, One who is dark-hued Please do come 

Komalaanga = One who has a soft gentle body

Swami= The Lord

Raayane = The ruler/king
